…the story continues
Here at Haringey Council’s Children’s Services, we are continuing to move forward in our improvement journey with tremendous strides – one that offers a fantastic opportunity to make a really big difference to the lives of local children and families.
Successive Ofsted inspections from 2009 to last year – when we were removed from our period of oversight by the Government – found that we have made improvements and that children have better outcomes and are safer and better protected than in 2008/09. You can read the last full inspection report and what the council said at the time, here.
Furthermore, in February 2012 we introduced our groundbreaking MASH (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub). The MASH brings council, police and health professionals together in one secure location to work together to best ensure vulnerable children are identified and properly cared for and protected. The MASH ensures a partnership approach is embedded in everything we do, with clear systems and processes understood by all partners. The focus of the MASH and the First Response Team is always on the child. The MASH was recently shortlisted for a safeguarding aware and is recognised as a best practice model in London – attracting regular visitors from other boroughs.
As well as progress, we are committed to doing so much more in order to deliver continuous, sustainable improvements and high quality outcomes for our children and families.
The legacy of difficulties experienced in the past will always remain, but today really is a new future in Haringey and we want to recruit and retain the best qualified social work staff to the borough as part of our long term vision that ‘Haringey is known to be a place where children and young people are known to thrive and achieve.'
We already have many excellent people working in Haringey’s Children’s Services, and we currently have a number of vacancies in the department suitable for highly skilled and experienced social care professionals. In return, manageable workloads, increased supervision and total support for our talented and dedicated staff is what we have to offer.
If you are a qualified social worker and have experience in the areas of jobs we currently have advertised then we want to hear from you.
Nothing is more important than ensuring the protection of vulnerable children and young people across Haringey. We are taking on the challenge to continue our journey towards excellence and very much welcome experienced candidates to come and join us.
